In the Ryazan region, through the efforts of Yandex, GKLanit and the Taiwanese company GIGABYTE completed the construction of a plant for the production of computer equipment. Already this year, the company plans to launch the production of various equipment, including Yandex branded servers.
At the new plant, Yandex is going to produceown line of OpenYard servers. It is indicated that all technical processes will be carried out at the enterprise, from surface mounting of components to testing of finished products. The company plans to set up the production of about 60,000 ready-made servers per year. At the same time, Yandex is going to enter its equipment into the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in order to participate in public procurement and compete with other Russian manufacturers of server equipment.
The press service of "Yandex" reported thatproduction at the new plant has not yet begun. At the same time, the company's website refers to the search for specialists to work in Ryazan, including process engineers of radio electronics. Interestingly, Yandex states that the company "has never been a controlling person of the OpenYard joint venture." According to SPARK-Interfax, the OpenYard trademark is owned by Open Development Center LLC, 50% of which is owned by Yandex LLC and another 50% by Lanit Ventures LLC.
It is noted that now more than half of the Russianserver market in unit terms accounted for by foreign companies, including HUAWEI, HP, Dell and others. Yadro (~15%), Aquarius (10%) and Kraftway (7%) are leaders among Russian manufacturers.
