On Russia Day, June 12, 2020, the head atomicstrategic missile submarine cruiser Prince Vladimir was introduced to the Russian Navy. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation provided a video in which the underwater cruiser of project 955A (code “Borey-A”) is being tested.
The official statement by the Ministry of Defense saidthat the ceremony of transferring the submarine cruiser "Prince Vladimir" was held at the Sevmash enterprise in Severodvinsk. During the ceremony, the ship raised the naval flag of St. Andrew.
Video broadcast of the flagship underwater testfleet of Russia was shown on the channel "Star". During the tests, a test launch of the Bulava sea-based intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the White Sea at the Kura training ground located in Kamchatka.
Head strategic submarine cruiser "PrinceVladimir ”becomes the first submarine launched under project 955A, and was launched in November 2017. Among the main characteristics of the flagship of the submarine fleet, the Ministry of Defense noted a lower traffic noise, increased maneuverability and the ability to hold at depths. In addition, the cruiser uses the latest weapons control system.
Submarines under the Borey project have on board 16 sea-based Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles and 533 mm caliber torpedo tubes.
