Chinese astronautics has achieved the nextsuccesses by sending the first unmanned interplanetary expedition to Mars. The spacecraft has a seven-month journey to orbit the Red Planet. After reaching the vicinity of Mars, the expedition will move on to research work, which includes landing a rover on the planet. With a successful landing on Mars, China will formally, after the USSR and the United States, become the third country to land on this planet.
Chinese mission named Tianwen-1(Questions to Heaven). During the expedition, an orbital module and a descent vehicle with a payload of a 240-kilogram Mars rover will be involved, the task of which will be to explore the surface of Mars.
Start of a Chinese expedition usingLong March 5 missile, positioned as one of the most powerful in the arsenal of China, took place on the morning of July 23 from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site, located on the island of Hainan in the south of China. It is noteworthy that the Long March 5 rocket is quite new and the Martian expedition becomes only the fourth launch of a carrier rocket of this class.
After a seven-month journey, approximatelyFebruary 2021, the orbital station will immediately begin to study the planet, and the descent module with the rover will go to the surface no earlier than April 23. The orbital station will continuously survey and create detailed maps of the planet.
Exploration of the surface of Mars at the momentconducted only with the help of the apparatus of the American mission InSight, which landed on the Red Planet in 2018. So far, in addition to the Americans, only the Soviet Mars 3 apparatus in 1971 was able to successfully land on Mars. However, within 20 seconds after landing, the connection with the device was lost forever. The European Space Agency has also failed twice to land on Mars.

In 2020, the Chinese became the second to sendspace expedition. Five days ago, the Arab Martian probe Al Amal (Hope) was sent to Mars from the Japanese cosmodrome. And in five days the next Martian expedition with the Perseverance rover-rover will be sent to Mars by NASA.
