American scientists have made another breakthrough in the development of methods for combating cancer in the late stages using immunotherapy methods.
New method of oncolytic viral therapyconsists in the delivery to the cells of metastases, developing at the later stages of the disease, a kind of molecular "bombs". Previously, such delivery was blocked by the patient's immune system.
Development is underway at Emory University andCase University Western Reserve Region in the United States. During the experiment, scientists have modernized adenoviruses, making them "invisible" to the body's immune system.
Similar oncolytic viruses capable ofdestroy cancer cells metastasized, usually blocked by the immune system. However, when treating with a modified virus, doctors hope to increase the effectiveness of the fight against cancer in the later stages of the disease.
