The main idea of electric vehicles, led byTesla cars are currently located, aimed at preserving the ecology and using renewable "green" energy. The organizers of the Finnish Ennätystehdas show decided to conduct an ideal experiment in which the muscle power of cyclists was used to charge the Tesla Model X. The holding of a spectacular but unrealistic show, however, made it possible to compare the energy consumption for recharging an electric car with the energy required to move a bicycle.
Cyclists involved in the Finnish show, tried to charge Tesla using exercise bikes that transfer energy to the car’s batteries. In the 20 minutes allotted to nine cyclists, they were able to generate 1 kW of electricity, which would allow the Tesla Model X with 85 kWh batteries to travel 2 kilometers.
To charge batteries 80% atusing the muscular strength of the legs of cyclists, it would have required 1350 participants to continuously pedal for one hour. At the same time, one average user, with an average power output of 250 W, would have to continuously pedal for 340 hours, or more than 14 days continuously.
Meanwhile, the experiment showed that for conservationnature, perhaps you should not introduce electric cars, but just need to transplant humanity on bicycles. In addition to solving the environmental problem, a modern person would also receive in this case the opportunity to exercise in the fresh air, which is so necessary for a sedentary lifestyle in the 21st century.
