Announcement. Nothing Phone (2) - planned development of LEDs (+ first looks and prices for Russia)

The time of introductions and preludes has passed, Nothing Phone (2) has been announced.

Outwardly, the newcomer is very similar to last year's Nothing Phone (1), but in general there are enough differences.

Newbie to the left, old man to the right

Weird but cute LED patternkept on the back. And it looks about the same as its predecessor. But, if you look closely, you can see that now it is more crushed. If earlier the drawing consisted of five pieces (glyphs), now there are eleven of them. Plus, the ability to light up glyphs in parts... They say as much as thirty-three LED zones. In short, you can program a lot of interesting things. In the first reviews, for example, a proprietary timer synchronized with the glyph strip is mentioned. And Nothing also seems to have agreed with Uber so that the glyph can be used to track the time until the arrival of the car coming to you. In short, a kind of task progress indicator. Developers get the API and program something interesting. Or they don't program. In my opinion, you have to be crazy to make gimmicks that will only work on one single rare smartphone. Unless the smartphone manufacturer has given you a small bag of money for this.

Appearance. Still handsome. The black color was changed to dark grey. White remains as is.

The back surface of the completely flat turned into a slightly rounded.

Iron. We are migrating from midrangers to flagships. Replaced
Snapdragon 778G+ (~600K in AnTuTu) on top, hot and throttling Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (~1000K in AnTuTu).

Memory. There will be three options. From modest 8+128 GB to quite reasonable 12+512 GB. Support for memory cards, of course, no.

The screen has grown from 6.55″ (104 cm²) to 6.7″ (108 cm²). LTPO OLED with refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. Classic resolution - 394 ppi (1080 × 2412).

There are still few cameras. The resolution of the front camera has doubled to 32 MP. The rear cameras still have a resolution of 50 + 50 MP. We replaced the main camera sensor from Sony IMX766 with a more modern Sony IMX890 (both are 1/1.56″). There is optical stabilization. The wide-angle camera, apparently, has not changed. At least the sensor remains the same - the famous Samsung JN1.

The fingerprint scanner, of course, is hidden under the screen. Of course, there is an NFC module and support for 5G networks. Of course, there is no standard audio output.

And about money.

In the US, Nothing Phone (2) at the start of sales will cost $599 (₽54800), $649 (₽59400) and $749 (₽68500) for versions 8+128, 12+256 and 12+512 GB, respectively.

In Europe (I looked at Germany), for the same amount of memory you will have to pay €649 (₽65200, $712), €699 (₽70200, $767) and €799 (₽80200, $877).

In Russia, the start of sales was announced by MVideo. They say it's official. They want money for ₽79,999 ($874) and ₽89,999 ($984) for the 12+256 and 12+512 GB versions, respectively. (As a gift they give headphones Nothing Ear (2)).

Nothing Phone (2) has already fallen into the hands of reviewers.I hide several reviews (more precisely, “first glances”) under cat. Including crash test from JerryRigEverything. The full collection, as usual, can be found on our website on the page of the device.
