Announcement. Kobo Nia - a simple hundred-dollar foreign reader

Everything is quiet and calm on the e-reader market. There are few new products, so each of them is a direct event.

Under the Kobo brand, one or two are released every year.devices, no more. This year, folks have decided to indulge in an entry-level device clearly aimed at competing with the base Amazon Kindle 2019.

Get to know each other. Kobo Nia. Simple lightweight device. Height, thickness, weight - like an average modern smartphone. True, the width is bigger (172 g, 159.3 x 112.4 x 9.2 mm).

The screen is classic. Six inches, electronic ink E-Ink Carta. Resolution by the standards of such devices is mediocre (758 × 1024, 212 ppi). For comparison, the Kindle has only 167 ppi (600 × 800). There is a backlight with adjustable color temperature.

No buttons are provided for controlling the device, everything is through the screen, since it is touch-sensitive.

The battery is small, only 1000 mAh. Somehow PocekBook and Onyx living in our market have accustomed us to somewhat larger volumes.

To communicate with the outside world there is Wi-Fi (single-band) and USB (Micro).

The device does not know how to play music. No moisture protection. There is no cover in the kit. But inexpensive.

The start of sales is scheduled for July 21. The starting price is $ 99.99 (₽7110), € 99.99 (₽8060, $ 113) or £ 89.99 (₽8010, $ 113) (depending on the country of your residence, of course).

According to Kobo Nia there are already several reviews and first glances. In English, of course. Links in front of you. As new reviews appear, they will be added to the device’s page.
